Richard Hes

choreographer and head of the UNO dance group

He graduated from the dance section of the Prague Conservatory, having already worked as a choreographer during his studies. At the first national competition in Bratislava in 1985, he came in first in this category for his choregraphy of Autodestruction. Apart from original ballets such as Check Mate, Carmen, Nikita, Billiards, he created several musical shows in Western Europe and was co-creator of the Swiss musical Keep Cool. All this experience was put to successful use in Prague in the staging of West Side Story, with some modification of the scipt, choregraphy and direction. Unconventional and progressive features are typical of his work, he is one of the most famous choreographers in Europe. Ballets: Check Mate, Carmen, Romeo and Julie, Nikita, Billiards, Don Giovanni, Ariel and more.

One of his last staging titles were musicals Dracula and Golem both composed by Karel Svoboda. Richard Hes died 17th February 2014.
