Part 1

EPOCH I.

1.
Introduction

The middle of the 16th century. The troops of the cruel prince Dracula plunder the surrounding dukedoms. The fleeing inhabitants seek refuge in front of the monastery gates.

2.
Lord, Have Mercy

The quiet mass is disrupted by the influx of refugees.

3.
Rise From Your Knees

The dignified priest appeases the refugees with promises of God´s justice. An itinerant monk succumbs to doubts, but is eventually reassured by the choir of believers.

4.
Dracula and his Evil Knights

Dracula storms into the monastery with a horde of Black Knights and declares the monastery as his property. The priest challenges him bravely, but cannot prevent the subsequent wave of plunder and murder. When the badly-injured itinerant monk passes away in his arms, he curses Dracula to eternal life and a never-ending desire for blood.

5.
Adriana and the Jester

The bedroom of Dracula’s wife in his home castle. Princess Adriana suffers from pre-natal pains. The Fool, her devoted servant and secret admirer, helps her to overcome this hard time.

6.
I Know You Are With Me

The princess declares her love to Dracula and through sensuous imagery he confirms his equally burning feelings for her.

7.
The Bucker and the Sword

The Fool, fearing the imminent death both of Adriana and her child, welcomes his master. The self-confident Dracula initiates him into his unique philosophy of „world purges“.

8.
Heaven’s Gate

Dracula comes to Adriana, who is on the threshold of death. The desperate Fool indirectly blames the lonely Prince for the death of Adriana and the child, and is condemned to the stocks.

9.
Death

The Fool, in his chains, considers the fateful necessity of an end to life.

10.
An Unfair God

The desperate Dracula, over the body of the dead Princess, accuses God of being unjust.

11.
Dracula’s Realization

The Prince attempts suicide and learns to his horror that his mortal wounds close up again. The horror gradually changes into joy, however, at the prospect of eternal life.

12.
Lust and Passion

In an unrestrained drinking bout, Dracula’s new immortality is celebrated, but his curse is fulfilled. The blood-drenched Prince wakes up next to his first victim.
